Quick Start Guide for Editors
Find Your Page(s)
Locate your assigned catalog page(s) in the list of editors and assigned pages. Some editors manage multiple pages. Click the respective URL to access the editing environment of the catalog (referred to as the “NEXT” edition). MyAccess authentication is required. The URL in your browser will include “ucsf-next.”
Page Structure
Great care has been taken to standardize all catalog pages. Please familiarize yourself with the catalog format and closely adhere to the existing format. It is acceptable to add and remove content as is becomes relevant to do so; however, please consult Erik Rotman for Graduate Division pages or Christian Sweatt for all other pages if you would like to make substantial changes. The catalog should display useful information, and we encourage you to reach out if larger updates are required in order to present the best version possible.
Enter Edit Mode
To start editing, click the Edit Page tab in the top-left corner of the catalog page. This expands the editing menu and activates edit mode (example below).

Editing Text
For simple text-only pages:
- Make your changes.
- Proofread your work.
- Click the green Start Workflow button located in the bottom right-hand corner to submit your page (example below).
Before submitting:
- Run the Accessibility Report: This identifies issues like incorrect heading sequences, missing heading styles, or bold text improperly used as a heading.
- Use the Accuracy Report: Check for broken links or unapproved content on the page.
- Show Differences: Review changes with green text (additions) and red strikethrough text (deletions).
Editing Program Requirements/Tables
Editing a course of study grid is slightly more involved, but not difficult, than editing a text section. If you need more help, refer to the vendor Help pages or contact Christian Sweatt to request a quick personalized tutorial.
Workflow
After you have submitted your page to workflow, the page approver will review all edits and do one of two things:
- Approve the page for publishing; or
- Roll the page back to the editor for further revisions.
- Editors will receive an automated email if the page is rolled back for further edits.
Questions?
Please feel free to reach out to associate registrar Christian Sweatt with any questions regarding the catalog or if you would like one-on-one guidance.
