Refunds

UCSF follows the Schedule of Refunds issued by the Office of the President. Please contact Office of the Registrar if you have questions.

Schedule A: New students who receive Title IV Federal Financial Aid and withdraw during their first academic term

Prior to the first day of instruction and day 1: A maximum administrative fee of $100 or 5% of the total charges assessed, whichever is less, is deducted and the balance of Tuition and charges is refunded in full. The administrative fee is credited to the Student Services Fee, the Professional Degree Supplemental Tuition, or other fees as specified in University policy.

Day 2 and after: A maximum administrative fee of $100 or 5% of the total charges assessed, whichever is less, is deducted and the schedule of refunds shown in Schedule A of the Schedule of Refunds, is applied to the balance of fees assessed. The administrative fee is credited to the Student Services Fee, the Professional Degree Supplemental Tuition, or other fees as specified in University policy.

Schedule B: All continuing and readmitted students, as well as new students who do not receive Title IV Federal Financial Aid

  1. For all continuing and readmitted students: There is a service charge of $10 for cancellation of registration or withdrawal on or before the first day of instruction.
  2. For new students who do not receive financial aid; schedule B of refund schedule is applied to the total of assessed charges.
  3. For new students who do not receive financial aid and who have paid applicable registration fee deposit, the registration fee deposit is withheld and the schedule B of schedule of refunds is applied to the balance of charges assessed.
  4. Students need to consult with Financial Aid Office and the Office of the Registrar on their refunds if they are called up to active military services or entering the armed forces.
  5. Certain fees, such as miscellaneous fees and late fees, are not refundable.
