UC Student Health Insurance Plan Waiver

As a non-academic condition of enrollment, all graduate and professional students at UC San Francisco are required to maintain continuous health insurance coverage under an approved plan for the duration of their enrollment.

Students are automatically enrolled in the UC Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP). If you have your own health insurance and would prefer to use it, you may apply for a waiver.

To be eligible for a waiver, your plan must meet the University’s minimum benefit requirements. Waiver approval is granted only when all requirements are fully satisfied. Once approved, you may opt out of UC SHIP.
