Required Trainings for Learners
Completing mandatory training is an important requirement for all UCSF learners to foster a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for everyone. Additionally, completing the training helps support the larger UCSF community and its mission and ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. We encourage you to review this information and retain it for future reference.
This webpage provides a list of required trainings for all students, including annual trainings and those that must be completed when you first join the UCSF community. Please note that your school or academic program may have additional training requirements beyond those listed here. Required Trainings
SHAPE (Sexual Violence and Harassment, Anti-discrimination, Prevention, and Education)
All UCSF students are required annually to complete SHAPE, a harassment and discrimination prevention education course. SHAPE provides an important overview of prohibited conduct, University policies, campus resources, and strategies for preventing harm while fostering a respectful, inclusive community. All students will receive separate communications about this training from UCSF Title IX Officer Tracey Tsugawa. Discourse and Free Expression
All incoming students are required to watch a 30-minute training on Discourse and Freedom of Expression. This training is generally e-mailed to incoming students in August. UCSF Policy on Student Conduct and Discipline Acknowledgement
All incoming students must complete a policy acknowledgment, which will appear as a hold in the student portal if you have not already completed this requirement. If you have questions about this process, e-mail [email protected].
Stand Up to Hazing
All incoming students are required to complete the Stand Up to Hazing training. This course will be assigned in Canvas in August each year. If you have questions about accessing this training or need assistance, please e-mail [email protected].
Understanding and Addressing Antisemitism
All incoming students must complete the 30-minute Understanding and Addressing Antisemitism training in the UC Learn (LMS) portal. Failure to complete the training before the end of October will result in a hold on the student’s registration in the student portal. All incoming students must complete the 30-minute Understanding and Addressing Islamophobia and Anti-Arab Bias training in the UC Learn (LMS) portal.
