Form 1098-T Information

IRS Form 1098-T – Tuition Statement

Each January, UCSF produces a Form 1098-T, Tuition Statement, and provides a copy to students and to the Internal Revenue Service. Forms are available by January 31 for the previous tax year.

UCSF can mail the Form 1098-T. Or students can consent in the student portal to receive their Form 1098-T electronically. Students who consent to receive their Form 1098-T electronically receive an e-mail message in January notifying them that the form is available. They can view the form in the student portal or at UCSF's Form 1098-T vendor's Web site.

Please read how to access your Form 1098-T for tax year 2023.

The UCSF Graduate Division provides information about taxes that may be particularly useful for graduate academic students. Student Financial Aid offers a financial literacy Web site for professional students. IRS Publication 970, Tax Benefits for Education, provides useful information as well.

UC Path Payments

Important update for Graduate Student Research (GSR) fellows and trainees who receive 1098-T tax forms for qualified education expenses paid through UCPath: UCPath payments will now be included in Box 5 of your 1098-T form.
